Jessica Simpson: "I Am Blessed" To Have Done MTV's Newlyweds

Jessica Simpson revealed to Entertainment Tonight she’d never do reality TV again, but is “blessed” to have done MTV’s Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica with then-husband Nick Lachey.

Talking with ET correspondent Lance Bass on Thursday, May 15, at Forbes’ Women’s Summit: Power Redefined in New York City, the fashion mogul talked about everything from working on new music to how she feels Newlyweds benefitted her career.

When asked if she’d ever do reality TV again, Simpson replied: “I would absolutely not ever do reality TV again.” However, she added, “I am blessed that I did have that show. It allowed people to come into my life, and to know me as a person, and I owe a lot of my supportmy fans came from that because people could relate to me,” Jessica said of the show, which first premiered in August 2003.

Simpson and Lachey divorced in 2006, and now the blonde is gearing up for her second wedding this summer to fiance Eric Johnson. “I can’t wait to be a bride,” she told Bass. Simpson added it’ll be her daughter, Maxwell Drew, 2, who will steal the show, though.

“She likes to twirl around in her dress, so she’ll be the highlight for sure,” the singer said, laughing.

When it comes to music, the fashion designer is eager to get back to it. “I am setting up the sound in my studio [at home] right now,” she said, noting that she records at home because that’s where Maxwell and son Ace are.

“Well, my kids are there, and they inspire me. They’ll bring the music out of me,” Simpson said. But don’t expect a lullaby album. The “Sweetest Sin” singer laughed: “I think my voice is too loud to sing a nursery rhymeI startle them!”
