Harry Wayne Casey Enjoys Entertaining Family and Friends in His Spanish-Style Home

He’s traveled the world with KC and the Sunshine Band, but for singer-songwriter Harry Wayne Casey, there’s no place he’d rather get down tonight than in his beloved Miami.

“I grew up about 10 minutes from here,” Harry shares with ‘Closer.’ “This area used to be a dairy farm and we’d play here as kids. All my family is in the area and I wanted to be near them.”

Harry’s friends and relatives enjoy visiting the sunny, Spanish-style home with plenty of room (5,000 square feet!) for his many pets, including golden retrievers Brandy and Apollo, six birds (a macaw and five Gouldian finches) and an orphaned duck named Miracle that he saved from raccoons.

“He loves playing with my dogs,” says Harry, 64. “I think he’s a little confused. It’s crazy.”

His menagerie of pets is as colorful as the three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath home. Harry added psychedelic Peter Max paintings and other bright “splashes of color” to complement the browns, creams and blues he finds “warm and relaxing.”

After touring with disco hits like “That’s The Way (I Like It)” and “Get Down Tonight” for more than three decades, relaxation is important to Harry, whether it’s his newfound love of baking (“My pecan pies are famous,” he says with a smile) or just easing back on his living room sofa.

“I like furniture that makes you relax and feel like you never want to leave,” he admits.
